I've just finished updating the Upcoming Dates section of the website with some of my upcoming dates for 2015, so swing over there and take a look to see if I'll be near you any time soon. Some highlights in the next few months include teaching at Maine Pipes & Fiddle in Portland, Maine in late March, an April New England album release tour for my upcoming album "The Sunny Hills", and a piping workshop in Santa Cruz, California, in early May. There are a fair few dates for 2015 yet to come, so keep watching this space.
I'm very excited about my upcoming show with Eric McDonald at the Blackstone River Theater in Cumberland, Rhode Island this Saturday the 31st of January, 8 PM. We're splitting the bill with Fellswater, so it should be a blast. If you're in the neighborhood, come on down and shake off the snow! We'll be playing a lot of material off of our upcoming album, so it should be a great sneak peak at what's coming up. See you out there.
I'm surely overdue for an update here, but I'm coming off the back of a wildly busy December. The larger part of the reason for the busyness was the happy success of my Kickstarter campaign for my upcoming album, "The Sunny Hills". Thanks to the support of 151 backers, Eric McDonald and myself were able to raise almost $7000 to finance the costs of recording, mixing, and manufacturing our debut project. This is great news, and we'll have the album in hand for release in the spring of this upcoming year.
For those in the Boston area, I'm happy to announce that I'll be making myself available for lessons on Scottish bellows pipes, tin whistle, low whistle, and wooden flute in the Boston area on a regular basis starting this January. I'll be available to teach all day on Mondays at Club Passim in Harvard Square, from 9 am to 9:30 pm. Additionally, I may be available to make house calls on Sunday mornings and early afternoons. If you're interested, get in touch, and if you know anybody else who might be up for it, mind letting them know?
Also, I'll be hosting a regular Sunday session with my pal Eric McDonald at Emmett's Pub in Boston, 6 Beacon Street. It's from 3-6, so come on down for a tune or two if you're up for it.
Oh, and Happy New Year! 2015 is looking great from here, and I've got plenty of exciting news that will be emerging in the coming months, so keep watching this space.
First of all, thank you so much to all of you who've donated to my Kickstarter campaign. Thanks to you, we made nearly $3000 in the first week of our campaign, putting us almost halfway towards our goal of recording "The Sunny Hills"
To give everybody a bit more of a taste of what will be on the album, I've started a Kickstarter Daily Tune series on Youtube. Every day, I'll be sharing a video of a tune on the pipes or flute. Some will be tunes appearing on the album and other will just be favorites of mie. If you've got friends who might be interested in becoming backers, passing this link along might be a great way to pique their interest.
Additionally, Eric and myself have got an upcoming concert on Concert Window this Thursday the 11th at 7 pm Eastern. It's pay what you want, and all money raised from the concert will go directly to fund our campaign. We'll be playing sets intended for the album, so it'll give you yet another preview of things to come.
We've come a long way, but we've got a ways to go yet and keeping up the momentum at this time is crucial. If you've been meaning to donate and haven't yet, now's the time. If you have, please let other people who you think could be interested know.
Again, thanks to you all for your generosity. We're working hard and are as excited as ever.
I'm thrilled to announce that I've got a full-length album, entitled The Sunny Hills, in the works! I'll be recording it this winter with my bandmate Eric McDonald. We've just launched a Kickstarter page where you can find out more about the project and if you feel like it, donate. Please do consider donating; the vote of confidence that comes from crowdsourcing a project like this is just as vital as the economic support a successful project like this can bring. You can find out a bit more about what's in store over at the Kickstarter page.
